The Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Commerce, National Development and Reform Commission, General Administration of Customs and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China recently revised Management Catalog for Solid Wastes Prohibited to Be Imported (Catalog 1), Management Catalog for Solid Wastes That Are Imported with Restrictions and Can Be Used as Raw Materials (Catalog 2), and Management Catalog for Solid Wastes That Belong to Non-restrictive Import Classes and Can Be Used as Raw Materials (Catalog 3).

   After the revision, waste plastics from daily life (eight varieties), unsorted waste paper (one variety), waste textile materials (11 varieties) and vanadium slag (four varieties) will be listed in Catalog 1 instead of Catalog 2. Further, Catalog 1 will include 14 classes like waste animal/plant products and plastic scrap; Catalog 2 will include five classes such as metallic wastes from fusion and smelting of metal; Catalog 3 will include two classes – wood and cork wastes. The revision will become effective December 31, 2017
